From proof of age to opening an account: how you use d-you in everyday life

Opening an account online

With d-you, you can easily verify your identity digitally, for example when opening accounts, securities accounts, and conducting other banking transactions. Corporate customers also benefit from simpler digital identification processes.

Receiving parcels

Pick up your shipment with d-you at post offices. Pick up packages, small parcels, and letters at Deutsche Post locations easily and securely using the d-you app. Digital identification lets you pick up a shipment even if your ID is at home—it’s as simple as using your cell phone.

Proving your age

Easily prove your age online, at the supermarket or at the movie theater ticket counter.

Secure local storage of your credentials, a fail-safe infrastructure and strong security mechanisms protect your data. You decide who you show information from your credentials to.

Selective disclosure

Only the information from a credential that is requested for the specific use case is shared. For example, your Digital ID can confirm that you are “over 18” without including your date of birth – or even your name and address. The recipient does not see any of the other data.

Full control over your data.

You decide who you share your data with. The wallet makes sure that the data requested matches the registered use cases (e.g., age verification). Before you share any data, you see what personal data is requested and can decide whether or not to agree to the request.

Local storage

Your credentials are stored encrypted on your phone. There is no central data collection. Data is shared directly with the recipient only, and only if you explicitly agree to share it.

Protection if you lose your phone

If your phone is lost, you can block d-you remotely with your deletion key. From then on, your wallet is invalid and can no longer be used to show credentials. The app on the lost phone then deletes all credentials.
